Feb. 5th Moonlight Skiing 7pm weather permitting Feb. 11th Birds n Bagels 9-11am Fred Zufelt will ID winter birds at the GSC feeders, answer birding questions, give bird feeding tips, enjoy coffee, hot cocoa, and bagels. Informal drop in, donations welcome. Feb. 25th Winter Hibernation Festival 11-4pm Bonfire (roast marshmallows), X-Country skiing, snowshoeing, ski lessons & rentals, outdoor winter games and more. Find out the wonders of winter wildlife. Boy Scout Troop 43 building their famous ice igloo/shelter. Suggested donation: $3/adult, $2/child March 3rd Explore the Great Blue Heron Rookery by X-Country skiing,walk of snowshoe at 1pm. Call for reservations. Weather permitting March 24th Bluebirds and More by co-founder of the NYS Bluebird Society John Rogers, 1-2:30, power point presentation on aspects of a bluebirds life, how to attract bluebirds and actually build a bluebird nest box if desired after the program (optional). Open to all ages, pre-registration required. Suggested donation to build box $10. John Rogers is a bluebird expert for central New York. April 6th Easter Egg Adventure 11 am sharp! Come early to enjoy games and live bunnies. Four age catagories, 1 grand prize for each age group for finding the Golden Egg. Suggested donation $1 per child April 21st Woodcock Watch at Dusk:Observe the American Woodcock in its courtship ritual which is an aerial, acrobatic action by a male to attract a female. April 22nd Earth Day Tree Planting Celebration 1 pm April 27 Arbor Day tree planting at Canastota Schools 2-3pm May 5th & 6th Spring Migration Festival 10-4pm: Our 13th annual festival with acclaimed wildlife artists, crafters, "Talons" Birds of Prey, environmental displays, music, children's activities, guided bird walks, food and more. This is a nature, family oriented event. Help the GSC celebrate the return of migratory birds.
